Magnetic Players among the Top 10 of the PGA Make Your Mark Challenge

We just found out that Magnetic Players -- our entry into the PGA Make Your Mark Challenge -- has made the top 10 out of 500 entries!

It will screen with the other finalists at the South Park Center in DTLA on the evening of November 11, 2017.

Magnetic Players was made in August over the course of 51 hours. We were challenged to make a short inspired by Mike Nichols' work. We were given a list of settings, props and themes that we had to incorporate into our project. 

The Ayers Sisters directed and co-wrote the film. Kimmie Kim was our producer. The cast included: Lavetta Cannon, Josh Cheney, Brandon Johnson, Molly Brandenberg and Ed Galvez.

 

Firm With Purpose just misses Austin Film Fest

Normally, we wouldn't take the time to publicize a film festival rejection, but here's an exception. Months after submitting to the Austin Film Festival, we received word that we didn't get in. Boo. But, the silver lining is we received a message that our short made it to the final round of selections. Without a manager or agent advocating for us, we feel pretty good that our work made it so far.

Firm With Purpose Wins Audience Fave @ WICF

Firm With Purpose has won Audience Favorite at the Women in Comedy Fest! It came as a big surprise to us because we didn't know anyone in the audience.  

It screened alongside 15 other short films in the Rachel Bloom Short Film Challenge. All films had to have the first line "You can't do that." It was neat to see how different each short was from one another. 

Thanks to the Women in Comedy Festival and everyone who attended!
